The election campaign is underway, at least on some social media platforms. Left-wing Nooshi Dadgostar is somewhat unexpectedly using his vejping in forbidden places as a tool to reach out to younger voters.
That Nooshi Dadgostar is one of the many former smokers who now vejpar he has appeared before. In 2022, the Expressen that they caught her on film holding an e-cigarette in her hand on the balcony of Parliament, where smoking is banned. Dadgostar denied it at first, but burst out laughing when the reporter told him they had pictures.
- It's water vapour! You can't do this interview, you've got to be kidding," she said between bursts of laughter.
Vejp, Ulf and being the bigger "dick"
But now, three years later, she stands for it in a different way. In a post on the Tiktok platform, where the leader of the Left (or perhaps some communicator in the party) picks up on one of the many trends there, she lists things she "unfortunately loves to do". Among items such as "make Ulf Kristersson shake" and "have more of a big dick than all the men in the government" is "vaping on the balcony of the Riksdag".
The post most likely alludes to the fact that the 2022 "revelation" went viral. The fact is that the Left Party has on several occasions backed proposals that outright bans all flavourings except artificial tobacco.
Vejpkollen is now keeping all fingers crossed that Nooshi will make it permissible to vejpa on both the parliamentary balcony and other places with smoking bans if she comes to power. And maybe consider changing it to a flavour ban for smokeless nicotine products.

The vapour from an e-cigarette is not "water vapour". Instead, it is a WATERLESS vapour made up of air, mixed with drops of glycerine and propylene glycol and small concentrations of flavourings and possibly nicotine. The e-liquid vaporises at between 200 and 300 degrees (depending on the type of e-cigarette) and is cooled by the air sucked in through the mouthpiece. When the vapour cools down to a sufficiently low temperature, it returns to its water-soluble liquid form.
Relative risks vs absolute risks
According to extensive toxicological summaries inhaling the vapour from a regulated e-cigarette with nicotine on a regular basis does not mean larger risks to the lungs and blood vessels. At the same time, it is not considered harmless as the use of e-cigarettes has not been studied for more than 25 years and conclusions based on both epidemiology and toxicology are difficult to draw. A very large majority of current vejp users are former or current smokers, which complicates studies. But based on what is known today, vejping significantly lower risks to health compared to breathing in cigarette smoke. At the same time long-term research is ongoing to find out the effects of vejpning over time. These studies exclusively involve former non-smokers. Vejpkollen of course follows.
